Miao Crown | 2007.02.001
$1,500.00
Miao festival and ceremonial crown from South China. The head piece is in two parts, the lower section shows a series of figures on horseback topped by a cascade of flower pedals. The upper part displays what looks like a pagoda surrounded with dragons. According to the man I purchased it from this is a Miao boat crown. The pagoda like shape represents a paper boat usually burned at New Years and weddings. The crown was collected from a group of girls by the side of the road leading to Dali, Yunnan China. He believed the crown was new when he found it in 1972. It is in excellent condition
