Guerrero Old Woman Mask #2009.01.048 Sold

This (el viajita) or little old woman mask was created by the master carver Martin Catalan Lazado from Zumpango del Rio, Guerrero. His finish has a nice sheen which brings out the rich facial tones, pink cheeks, red lips, brown/blue eyes, white eyebrows and one tooth. This mask is made to be used in the Danza de la Viajita but can also be used in many other dances that include an old pink skinned woman. It was purchased from the carver in 2009. It is unused, made from copal wood with leather ears and is in excellent condition. The mask is signed Martin and viejitos on the back. It is a mate for the old man mask #2009.01.047. Size H 8”, W 8”, D 5”. Weight 1 1/2 lbs.
