Guerrero, Mexico, Dance Mask #2009.01.046 sold

This mask has a black face with metallic silver eyebrows, eyelashes, and a wonderful up-curling moustache. It has red lips and is smoking a cigarette. The mask was carved from copal wood and painted with enamel. It was made to be worn in the Danza de los Tlacololeros. The mask was carved by the master carver Martin Catalon Lazado, from Zumpango del Rio, Guerrero Mexico. It was collected from the carver in 2009. The mask is unused and in excellent condition. Size H 8 3/4”, W 7”, D 5 1/2”. Weight 1 1/2 lbs.
